The Honourable Justice Habeeb Abiru (JSC) has been congratulated on his swearing – in today, alongside others as Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Ikorodu – born Justice Abiru is one of the 11 Justices that officially assumed position on the bench of the highest court in the country, following their inauguration by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
In a statement, Mr Abolaji Oluwaseun Elesho, former President, Ikorodu Heroes (I – Heroes), described Justice Abiru’s appointment as incredible. He also added that he has no doubt that the new Supreme Court Justice would continue to pursue the entrenchment of the rule of law in the court.
He charged Abiru to also use his good office in strengthening the people’s belief in the court as an arbiter of justice, fairness and equity.
“Congratulations to the Honourable Justice Habeeb Abiru on your swearing-in today as a Justice of the Supreme Court in Nigeria. This is an incredible accomplishment, and I am thrilled to witness this significant milestone in your career knowing that your family and particularly, your late father would be extremely proud of this achievement of yours”, he said.
“As you assume this esteemed position, I trust that you will utilize your new office to further fortify the rule of law in our country. Your dedication, knowledge, and commitment to justice will undoubtedly contribute to upholding the principles of fairness and impartiality that the Nigerian judicial system stands for.
“I have great confidence that your appointment will strengthen the belief of the people in our judicial system. Your expertise and experience will undoubtedly guide and inspire sound judgments, setting a positive precedent for legal practitioners and promoting confidence in the administration of justice”, Elesho said.
While congratulating the jurist and stating that his appointment is due to his excellent legal arbitration over the years, Elseho emphasized that Nigerians should expect nothing but strict adherence to the dispensation of the rule of law as it is.
“May your tenure as a Justice of the Supreme Court be marked by wisdom, integrity, and a relentless pursuit of justice. Our nation relies on individuals like you, who are not only passionate about upholding the rule of law but also embrace the responsibilities that come with the position”, he said.
